Two groups of senior Alumni visited IBA Main and City Campus on Saturday, January 24, 2015 and met the Dean and Director Dr. Ishrat Husain during their visit. Alumni from 60's, 70's and the 80's were brought together by the efforts of Mr. Zaki Ahmed Sharif, Alumnus 1982, whose constant follow-ups with the Alumni Department and his IBA friends resulted in fruitful gatherings. Alumni Representative on the IBA Board of Governors, Mr. Shahid Shafiq was also present at the occasion.
Earlier in the day, one Alumni group met Dr. Husain at the Main campus while the other group made the call-on at the City Campus in the afternoon. During the meetings, Dr. Husain appreciated the efforts of the attendees to reengage with their alma mater and apprised them of the transformation undergone at IBA in recent years. Some of the Alumni who were visiting IBA after decades were fascinated to see the current changes and commended Dr. Husain and Team IBA for giving a modern look to this legacy institution.
Dr. Husain exhorted the Alumni to reinvigorate the Alumni Association for better connectivity of Alumni community with IBA and facilitate in raising a continuous stream of donations from a larger pool. Alumni present at the occasion vowed to play their part in resource mobilization efforts. Mr. Sharif pledged to raise Rs. 100 million while Mr. Anjum Nisar, Alumnus 1981, generously announced Rs. 500,000 annually towards IBA’s Endowment fund and agreed to host a fund raising dinner at his residence to achieve the mentioned target.
After the meetings, the Alumni groups were taken for a campus tour where they not only reminisced the times at IBA but also lauded the newly built infrastructure at both the campuses.
Alumni group visiting the Main campus also participated in the Plant IBA Green campaign and planted trees in the lawn of Alumni Students’ Centre. IBA intends planting 5,000 trees in the Main campus and with this effort, the tally of Alumni contribution towards this cost has increased to 46.
IBA Alumni Department is indeed grateful to all the Alumni who visited IBA. We hope many more Alumni (individually and/or collectively) visit IBA and remain connected with their alma mater.
