October 22, 2023: The IBA Alumni Canada Chapter (IACC) hosted its annual dinner in honor of Dr. S Akbar Zaidi on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre in Brampton, Ontario (Canada). The event brought together over 150 alumni of IBA with alumni from as back as the 1970s being in attendance. The event was organized by the Chapter. The Board of Directors IACC, ZAITOON UMER, Dr. Dr. Shahina T. Latif (Nanjiani), Tania Gulzar, Urooba Wahidi and Anna Fernandes, MBA, PMP Fernandez, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their continuous support. Zaitoon Umer, President, BOD, expressed her gratitude towards the sponsors of the event and thanked the alumni who attended and continued to provide their support to the chapter by facilitating the networking events and supporting IBA alumni who relocated to Canada.
Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director IBA Karachi, addressed the audience informing them of how IBA has evolved over the years and is now larger and more diverse in its scope as well as it’s student population. He informed the alumni about the formation of 3 distinct schools at IBA Karachi with students being able to pursue business studies as well as being able to pursue studies in mathematics & computer sciences as well as social sciences. From being a premier business school, IBA Karachi is now a full-fledged university with our students not only successfully securing places within leading multinationals but also in top competitive PhD and Master’s programs as well as successfully launching their own entrepreneurial ventures.
The event was a testament of the support and love that IBA Alumni have towards the institute and each other to ensure we succeed together no matter where we are. The IBA Alumni Canada Chapter is a visible beacon of excellence and is always supportive of IBA Karachi abroad and enables opportunities for linking Canada with IBA Karachi through their strong ambassadorship and respected presence in their communities.
