On November 1, 2012, Team IBA went to Meezan Bank Head office for an interactive session with its Alumni. Team IBA comprising of Dr. Ishrat Husain, Mr. Zafar A. Siddiqui and Mr. Haris T. Siddiqui were treated to a sumptuous lunch hosted by CEO & President, Meezan Bank, Mr. Irfan Siddiqui. Lunch was followed by the Alumni session where Mr. Irfan Siddiqui addressed a packed auditorium of IBA Alumni. He praised the efforts of Dr. Ishrat and requested him to inculcate humility and hard work in students to make them a complete package for the corporate world. He said, Meezan Bank has always had a preference for IBA which is evident from the induction of 11 graduates out of a total of 15 candidates for the MTO program.
Mr. Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Alumnus of 2001 and a driving force behind organizing the event gave the welcome address. Dr. Ishrat Husain gave a briefing to around 30 alumni about the way forward for IBA and the challenges being faced. He particularly mentioned the dwindling relationship between the Alumni and Alma-mater and regarded this effort as a step towards bridging the gap. Dr. Ishrat informed the audience that IBA isaiming to acquire internationally recognized accreditation AACSB; and its ambitious plans cannot be complete without its Alumni. Dr. Ishrat thanked Meezan Bank through Ihsan Trust for their instrumental efforts in raising scholarships for IBA National Talent Hunt Program.
Later, Mr. Zafar Siddiqui gave a detailed presentation on the developmental and curricular changes at IBA. In his candid style, he told the audience that the history of IBA has been one of the well-guarded secrets which boast off IBA as the oldest business school outside North America. Mr. Zafar encouraged Meezan Bank Alumni to hold their Sales Conference in the newly renovated Auditorium. He apprised the audience about the internationalization plans of IBA whereby students from all over the world are enticed in studying at IBA.
Alumni put forward a lot of questions ranging from registration of BOG elections to work requirement for MBA. Alumni were interested to know how IBA is promoting PhD faculty development and when will MS Finance be introduced. Meezan Bank Alumni showed their willingness to help IBA achieve its goal.
