March 31, 2019: Hundreds of alumni and their families got together in more than 10 cities across the United States on a Sunday afternoon to rekindle their love for the community and the IBA. It was an afternoon filled with excitement and anticipation since this was the first ever reunion held in US which brought together the alumni from the 70's to date.
Despite the time difference, the Executive Director, Dr. Farrukh Iqbal alongside with the Alumni Representative on the IBA Board of Governors, Mr. Shahid Shafiq, connected through video link. Dr. Farrukh apprised the audience about the recent academic and infrastructural developments at the IBA while Mr. Shahid Shafiq informed about the recent initiatives by the alumni department and urged the attendees to give back to their alma mater.
Syed Rehan Zafar, Class of 2001, was the protagonist of this initiative and along with a team of volunteers worked tirelessly for over a month to make this event a huge success. Rehan, while addressing the audience in New York, explained the ways in which the alumni could remain connected to each other and emphasized that this is the beginning of many such events in future.
The gathering provided the alumni community with an opportunity to meet old friends, develop new friendships, share personal and professional experiences in a foreign land and most importantly reminisce the memorable time spent at the IBA.
