Anwar Maqsood’s “Pawnay 14 August” screened exclusively for IBA Alumni in UAE

 

After the successful show of WAAR Movie Premiere, IBA Alumni UAE Chapter is proud to have been associated in bringing to stage in Dubai the renowned Pakistani writer, Anwar Maqsood’s “Pawney 14 August”. The event took place at DUTAC (Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre) on the 20th of March, 2014.

Anwar Maqsood, whose illustrious 45 years career in writing for TV has penned for the first time for theatre the smash-hit ‘Pawney 14 August’. This play was presented to audiences in different cities in Pakistan, and became an overnight runaway success. The play ran a total of 100 live performances to a packed house, every day in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

‘Pawney 14 August’ is a thought provoking story of what Pakistan was perceived as and what Pakistan has become today. Revolving around the three principal characters, the Quaid-i-Azam, Allama Iqbal and Maulana Shaukat Ali,who have come to see today’s Pakistan. Filled with questions and curiosity, the story is replete with a variety of characters representing Pakistan’s society from Politics, Business, Military, Film World, etc. The setting is at the Karachi Airport where each passenger is a storyteller. This production features some of the finest theatre actors from Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. This play is directed and produced by Dawar Mehmood.
