The reunion was not merely a gathering; it was a vibrant mosaic of accomplishments, a testament to the spirit that defines us as a community.

December 28, 2023: The highly anticipated Grand Alumni Reunion took place on December 28th at IBA, City Campus, bringing together over 1,000 alumni from all around the world. The event was a vibrant celebration, providing a meaningful platform for graduates to reconnect, reminisce, and honor the enduring spirit of their alma mater.
Malahat Awan, extended a warm welcome to the guests, emphasizing the pivotal role alumni play as ambassadors of IBA. She acknowledged their unwavering commitment, attributing it to the institute's current standing. Sohail Mohammed, Alumni Representative on the Board of Governors, also welcomed the guests and highlighted the year's series of events and significant changes that have taken place under his leadership on the board.
A key highlight of the evening was the enlightening keynote address by Dr. S Akbar Zaidi. Dr. Zaidi shed light on the transformative journey of IBA and underscored the crucial role played by alumni in preserving the legacy of their beloved institution. His insights provided a valuable perspective on the growth and evolution of IBA over the years.
Deans from various schools at IBA added prestige to the occasion, offering their perspectives on the institute's growth and expressing gratitude for the continuous support of the alumni community. The event also featured the participation of alumni chapters' office bearers, representing different regions. They shared reflections on IBA's evolution and outlined the motivations and future plans of their respective chapters. This segment provided a unique opportunity for attendees to understand the diverse impact IBA has had on its graduates across the globe. Notable guests included Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui (Producer and celebrated artist), Zafar Masud (CEO, Bank of Punjab) and Amir Paracha (CEO, Unilever Pakistan) and many more.
The night continued with a delightful blend of captured moments, networking opportunities, and a sumptuous dinner. The evening reached its crescendo with a mesmerizing Qawali performance by Hamza Akram Qawwal, infusing a cultural and musical flavor into the celebration.

As we came together for the Grand Reunion, we carried the cherished memories of our departed alumni in our hearts. We start 2024 with a groundbreaking ceremony of The Jaffer Family of New York Data Science Center at the Main Campus!
It was a pleasure to welcome the Jaffer Family along with the board members of the JAFFER FAMILY FOUNDATION (JFF), United Global Initiative (UGI), and Know Welfare Foundation to break ground on the site for the new facility which brought together the senior leadership and faculty of IBA Karachi. Furthering the commitment of JFF and UGI in supporting quality education, an MoU signing ceremony was held with Justice (Retd.) Maqbool Baqar, Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh and Patron IBA as the Chief Guest.
At the MoU signing, the JFF and IBA leadership included, Mohamed Taki Jaffer, Chairman, JFF; Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, IBA; Dr. Shakeel Khoja, Dean, School of Mathematics and Computer Science, IBA Karachi; and Malahat Awan, Director, Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization and Corporate Relations. The event included notable business and civic leaders including Dr. Hasnain Walji. Ph.D., Executive Director, UGI; Mrs. Rana Hussain, Caretaker Minister, College Education Department; and Brigadier (Retd.) Haris Nawaz, Caretaker Home Minister of Sindh.
With a focus on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, the Data Science Center will empower students and researchers to explore future-positive technologies, conduct ground-breaking research, and develop solutions to real-world problems. This initiative aligns perfectly with IBA’s mission to be a world-class institution of higher education and will position it at the forefront of technological advancements in the region.
