The Islamic Banking & Finance Alumni Reunion brought together industry professionals and alumni for insightful discussions and networking while the Alum Fest, held recently, was another well-attended event where alumni had the opportunity to connect and share experiences with their family at IBA!
We are excited to announce some new upcoming events! The IBA Alumni Karachi Chapter meetup is just around the corner, and it’s set to be an excellent opportunity for local alumni to network, share ideas, and reconnect. We're also eagerly anticipating the upcoming reunion organized by the boys hostel society, which is sure to be a memorable gathering!

IBA Karachi was abuzz with excitement as the leading institutions and minds on Islamic Banking and Finance gathered for the special program-specific IBA Alumni Reunion for the MS Islamic Banking & Finance organized through the collaboration of the IBA Alumni Affairs Department and the MS-IBF Program. The event brought together graduates of the program along with senior leadership from Islamic banks and institutions that are key in bringing the Islamic finance revolutionization around the world. Over 85+ guests gathered at the 11th Floor of the Aman Tower at the IBA City Campus to network, learn and chart futures together representing more than 35 organizations.
The event was a joint collaboration between the IBA Alumni Affairs Department & the School of Business Studies' Finance Department and MS Islamic Banking & Finance team and brought together senior leadership from local and multinational banks, government and state institutions and shariah experts to listen to the leading minds in the space and gain an understanding of the changes and direction of the industry as a whole. Notable speakers and guests at the event included Dr. Ishrat Husain, former Governor State Bank of Pakistan and former Dean & Director IBA, Mr. Saleem Ullah, Deputy Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Mr. Yousaf Hussain, President & CEO Faysal Bank, Mufti Dr. Irshad Ahmad Aijaz, Chairman Shari'ah Advisory Committee SBP and SECP & Chairman Shari'ah Board BankIslami, Mr. Muhammad Atif Hanif, CEO Al Baraka Bank Pakistan Ltd., Mr. Azhar Aslam, Managing Director Head Islamic Banking Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Rehmat Hasnie, CEO National Bank of Pakistan, Mr. Ahmad Ali, Director IBA Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance and Mufti Najeeb Khan, Visiting Faculty MS IBF, Dr. Irum Saba, Program Director MS-IBF, and many more. Dr. Abdullah Zafar Sheikh, Dean of the School of Business Studies, and Dr. Hilal Anwar Butt, Chairperson of the Finance Department also attended the event and met with the guests.
The speakers shared the latest industry insights, the growing demand and need for automation and technology to ensure Islamic banking customers received ease and convenience while also finding peace of mind and faith through services, and the risks and difficulties the industry is facing towards the complete transition to Islamic Banking in Pakistan as per the Shari'ah decisions. The speakers fielded questions from the audience and during the networking session, guests had the opportunity to network and share their experiences studying Islamic finance at IBA.
This event is a continuation of the IBA Alumni Affairs Department to curate industry focused networking events following previous successful events including the Banking and HR industry alumni reunion, the Supply Chain industry alumni reunion and the Entrepreneurial Alumni Summit.
We are delighted to announce that the Boys Hostel Society is reviving the cherished tradition of the Alumni Reunion Dinner on the 3rd of May 2024, after a hiatus of four years. This event promises to be an evening filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and celebration.

The IBA Alumni Society hosted the 1st Inaugural IBA ALUM FEST on the 27th and 28th of April 2024. The event took place at the Main Campus and City Campus respectively. The first day brought together over 50 stalls and partners for a fun filled carnival with attractions for everyone in the family! Alumni brought their spouses and kids along for an evening enjoying the cool Karachi breeze and partaking in amazing food, shopping at venture's stalls and having kids play in the gigantic bouncing castle that was set up for them. The event was followed on the second day with a live concert by Hasan Raheem and Ayesha Ijlal that brought over 2,000 participants to the campus! Alumni and students alike rocked out to the session.
The event was organized by the Alumni Society and its members as a means of bridging the gap between alumni, the student and the families of the IBA community to connect and build stronger, meaningful relations with each other. The event was a resounding success and was even featured in national news.
