Q. What to expect at the entrant level? (Ups and downs during the early years)
In a sales profession early years seem like boot camp. They can be very long & tiring in terms of working hours. Field sales (includes distributor sales) can be very frustrating at times specially if done in comparison to peers. You are out in the field sweating away while our banker friend might be sipping cold beverages in an air conditioned room.

Students should opt for as many Sales electives as possible. Also highly encourage people to intern in sales positions to fully understand their aptitude because not everybody can or should be a salesperson.

P&G is the largest FMCG globally however key companies in our field to look after are Unilever, Reckitt & Colgate. These are just a few however there are several more regional players that could prove to be important.

Q.Any advise that you can offer to current students?
Students should ensure that they have a fine mix of academics & extra circular activities. They should try to attain as much leadership experience through student bodies (e.g. BASC) as possible. They should also leverage the course project work as a chance to get exposure & build network with industry professionals.
