On Thursday, January 23, 2025, L'Oréal Paris Pakistan hosted an INVITE IBA session at their Head Office, aiming to foster dialogue within the IBA alumni network and address key trends in today’s workforce.
Moderated by Adeela Liaquat Ali Khan, Corporate Affairs & Engagement Director at L'Oreal Pakistan, the session featured Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director of IBA, and Qawi Naseer, Country Manager of L’Oréal Pakistan hosting a town hall with L'Oreal employees including IBA Alumni. The theme, “Young Talent Managers and the Gen Z Workforce” explored strategies for understanding and managing Gen Z professionals, especially management trainees, as companies adapt to evolving workforce dynamics.
Dr. Zaidi highlighted that Gen Z values purpose-driven work, flexibility, and inclusivity, and companies should align with these expectations to enhance employee engagement. Qawi emphasized the importance of growth opportunities, transparency, mentorship, and strong values alignment in retaining top Gen Z talent.
Dr. Zaidi spoke about the initiatives at IBA Karachi to develop a strong, competent workforce for local and global players and the changing priorities of students who are now actively seeking entrepreneurial opportunities and are passionate about rapid purpose-driven growth. The discussion also covered how institutions like IBA shape future leaders, with both speakers stressing the importance of innovation, resilience, and critical thinking. They also talked about creating continuous learning pathways for young professionals.
A roundtable discussion with current and former L’Oréal Management Trainees explored bridging generational gaps, with Dr. Zaidi advocating for open communication and empathetic leadership. He also emphasized the need for training programs to foster collaboration.
In closing, IBA’s Malahat Awan, Director of Alumni Affairs, Resource Mobilization & Corporate Affairs, thanked attendees and encouraged alumni to continue supporting future generations of IBA leaders.
