A Eulogy to Dr. Muhammad Uzair Khan by Moneyum Chowdhury-Alumnus 1960

Dr. Uzair was our Professor in the first year Honors Program in Economics at the Dhaka University in 1953. He taught us History of Economic Development with reference to UK, USA, Soviet RUSSIA, and JAPAN. He was an inspiring Teacher motivating us to develop as well. He was active in propagating Islamic values and I attended several sessions at his Azimpur Colony residence. Soon he left for Karachi University, but we were never out of his mind. He encouraged me to excel and write. At times, he wrote lengthy letters to clarify my foggy understandings. He got an article of mine published in then Pakistan Economist. When I was selected to study at the Institute of Public and Business Administration in 1956, he knew that I am a total stranger to Karachi, and hence offered hospitality. I stayed along with his father at his Nazimambad residence till I managed suitable living arrangement.

A great soul is no more. May ALLAH grant him eternal peace.
