Mr. Ahmad Hassan, IBA Alumnus of MBA Class of 2011, has recently been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of Daraz Pakistan in June, 2021.
Prior to joining Daraz Pakistan, Mr. Ahmad was serving as the Chief Financial Officer of GCC region for Kimberly Clark based out of Bahrain. His professional experience encompasses different industries like Textiles, Chemicals, Tobacco & FMCG and different geographies including Pakistan, Middle East & North Africa. His areas of expertise are Financial Management, Planning & Analysis, Strategy, People Development & Change Management.

Mr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, IBA alumnus, Class of MBA 1986, has recently been appointed as the President of the Aga Khan University (AKU), Karachi. Mr. Sulaiman joined AKU 35 years ago and is currently the regional CEO of Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) for East Africa.
At AKU, Mr. Sulaiman has been involved in implementing nursing education programs in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. He moved to East Africa 20 years ago and joined AKHS. Sulaiman went on to serve as the CEO of the Aga Khan Hospitals in Nairobi, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam before being appointed Regional CEO for East Africa for AKHS in 2014.
Mr. Sulaiman is the Co-Chair of the AKDN Health Network Purchasing Steering Committee and serves on the Board of Kampala Pharmaceutical Industries. He also holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Development from the University of London.
The IBA Karachi is pleased to announce that IBA alumnus, Mr. Farooq Hyder Shaikh, Class of 1993, has been appointed as the Advisor/Executive Director Business Planning for Pakistan Railways. Mr. Farooq has been selected after a stringent selection process and he has been chosen for this coveted assignment as part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s resolve to improve the performance of key national institutions.
Mr. Farooq will be primarily working with Federal Minister for Railways, Chairman of Pakistan Railways and CEO, Pakistan Railways, and assist them in reforming and restructuring the overall business model of Pakistan Railways. Commercial Team of Pakistan Team is directly reporting to him and he has already joined the organization. He will be fully involved and engaged in the execution, and he has already started taking initiatives and working closely with the Team to transform this great national asset of Pakistan.
His strong leadership and interpersonal skill have been key to his success while working with leading brands such as Merck, Danone Group, Hershey Canada, Rogers Telecom, Omstead Foods Canada, Tapal and Service Sales Corporation.
Ms. Tabassum Vally, IBA alumna, Class of MBA 1992, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Orientm McCann.
Ms. Vally’s almost three-decade career spans across various industries including visual communications, financial and other services.
She spent 17 illustrious years in the advertising industry in Pakistan, working with industry leaders, JWT and Blazon Grey. Her final role at JWT was Chief Operating Officer. During her tenure, JWT made great progress with winning non-aligned account Pepsi, along with other major wins like Olpers’ and HBL.
Ms. Vally moved to Dubai in 2008 to join Barclays Bank as Head of Marketing, and proceeded to serve as Head of Customer Services and established the number one position in Customer Services in the Gulf region. Her last role at Barclays was Head of Retail Operations.
