Mr. Jawed Akhai
IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1985

It is with immense sorrow we announce the tragic and sad demise of our alumnus, class of 1985, Mohammad Jawed Akhai, Chairman, Martin Dow group, who passed away in France on October 18, 2018.

Mr. Akhai had been a generous donor to the IBA since many years and helped setup the Martin Dow Clinic at the IBA, Main Campus, Karachi. Needless to say that the IBA will forever be indebted for his generosity.

Mr Yazdi R. Sidhwa
IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1988

We regret to announce the sad demise of Mr Yazdi R. Sidhwa, IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1988. Mr Sidhwa was suffering from cancer for over a year and passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018. He has left behind two sons.

Dr. Muhammad Mahmud
IBA Alumnus, Class of 1979

We regret to announce the sad demise of Dr. Muhammad Mahmud, IBA Alumnus, Class of 1979. Dr. Mahmud was a professor and Head of Department, Finance and Accounting at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi. He passed away peacefully on June 12, 2018. On behalf of the IBA Alumni Community, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr. Khursheed Omer
IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1964

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the demise of Dr. Khursheed Omer, IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1964. Dr. Omer passed away on June 10, 2018 in Dallas Texas.

Dr. Khursheed Omer was a former professor at the University of Houston - Downtown | UHD · Department of Finance, Accounting and Enterprise Information Systems, and a former professor at the IBA Karachi.

Mr Farhan Pasha
IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1990

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the demise of Mr Farhan Pasha, IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 1990. Farhan passed away on May 8, 2018. He was working for Pakistan State Oil as General Manager.

Mr Mohammed Zeeshan Khamisani
IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 2001

We regret to announce the sad demise of Mr Mohammed Zeeshan Khamisani, IBA Alumnus, MBA Class of 2001. Zeeshan was suffering from brain tumour and passed away peacefully in Loma Linda, California on May 3, 2018. He has left behind two daughters.

Ms. Hiba Rehman
IBA Alumna of BBA 2017

We regret to inform you of the sad demise of IBA Alumna of BBA 2017, Ms. Hiba Rehman, who passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 as she had been battling with cancer for over a year.

Dr. Zahid Shariff,
Alumnus 1959

"We are grieved to inform you of the tragic demise of Dr. Zahid Shariff, IBA Alumnus 1959, who passed away in Olympia, Washington USA.

Dr. Shariff earned a doctorate in Public Administration at the New York University. He was a professor at the Evergreen State College, Olympia since 1990, having previously worked as a full-time faculty member at Brooklyn College, New York, and Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago.

May he rest in peace."
 
   

Mr. Ammar Ashraf,
Alumnus of 2011

“It is with profound grief and sorrow that we announce the tragic demise of Mr. Ammar Ashraf, IBA Alumnus 2011.

Mr. Ammar did his MBA from IBA, graduating in the year 2011. He worked as Deputy Manager in FWO. Recently, on a trip to Kashmir, Mr. Ammar drowned in the Neelum River while trying to save another friend from drowning. He was a strong and courageous person, and his memory will be cherished. May he rest in peace.”
 
   

Ms. Bushra Farooqi,
Alumna of 1996

“With great sorrow, we announce the demise of Ms. Bushra Farooqi, IBA Alumna 1996.

Bushra Farooqui was one of the founders of the IBA Alumni UK Chapter. A trainer by profession and a sportswoman by passion, she was an integral part of the organizing teams of the London Olympics and Paralympics in 2012. She recently set up schools in Gilgit to educate poor children of Shigar Fort. She breathed her last on August 30, 2015, while trekking in Oman. May her soul rest in peace.”
 
   

Mr. Ameer Daud Chaudhury

Alumnus of 1959

It is with profound grief we inform the sad demise of our alum Mr. Ameer Daud Chaudhury, on September 29, 2014. Mr. Chaudhury joined Finance department of Shell Oil Co. Ltd. Pakistan after graduating from IBA and retired from the same later named Bangladesh Gas Fields Co. Ltd. His IBA friends remember him as mild-natured, soft-spoken, friendly and pious gentleman, loved by all.
 
   

Mr Zarrar Zubair

Alumnus of 1972

With profound sorrow we announce the sad demise of our alum Mr Zarrar Zubair on August 15, 2014. President of Textile Institute of Pakistan, he was renowned in the educational community of Karachi. Most highlighted years of his life were spent in Pakistan Institute of Management-PIM where he taught and trained managers from all over Pakistan. May Allah grant him eternal peace.

Dr Matin A Khan

Professor Emeritus and Former Dean and Director IBA

With profound sorrow and grief we announce the demise of Prof. Dr. Matin Ahmed Khan on June 22, 2014. He served as Dean and Director of IBA from 1972 to 1977 and contributed greatly to the development of academic standards throughout the country.

In recognition of his services, Dr. Matin A Khan was bestowed upon the status of Professor Emeritus by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). He also served as Dean of Faculty of Management Sciences and Life Professor Research at Hamdard University.

According to Dr. Matin A. Khan's son, Mr. Babar Naeem, his last words were: "Remember that asking questions is easy, but providing a good answer is very difficult."
 
   

Mr. Ali Asghar Khambaty

Alumnus of 2005

It is with profound grief we inform the sad and untimely demise of Mr. Ali Asghar Khambaty, IBA Alumnus 2005. Three days ago, Ali became a victim of street crime in Karachi and succumbed to his wounds in a local hospital on Friday, April 19, 2013. He left behind a grieving wife and family.

 

Ali was enrolled in IBA in 2002 in BBA-MIS program and passed with flying colours with an MBA degree in 2005. Ali was working as Assistant Manager at Gulf Bank, Kuwait. May Allah bless his soul and provide solace to the bereaved family.

 
   

Mr. Mian Reza Nasruddin

Alumnus of 2000

With profound grief & sorrow we announce the sad demise of our Alum Mr. Mian Reza Nasruddin. He met with an unfortunate accident during a picnic at Sandspit and departed on May 22, 2011.

 

He completed his MBA in 2000 from IBA and since graduation had been associated with P&G. He had worked in various leadership positions both in Pakistan and abroad. May Allah grant him eternal peace.

 
   

Mr. Arshad Abdullah

Alumnus of 1962

With profound grief & sorrow we announce the sad demise of our Alum Mr. Arshad Abdullah on June 06, 2011. He was a senior member of IBA’s visiting faculty. May Allah grant him eternal peace.
 
   

Dr. Sana Nizami

Alumnus of 2010

With profound grief and sorrow we announce the sad demise of our Alumna Dr. Sana Nizami. She passed away as a result of a cardiac arrest on Sunday- 22 May 2011. She completed her MBA in 2009 from IBA and her brother Wajih Nizami is also an IBA graduate (MBA 2010)

 

We offer our condolences to the bereaved family and pray that the Almighty grant them strength to bear this untimely loss. May Allah grant Sana eternal peace.

 
   


Dr. I.A. Mukhtar

Father of IBA

 

IBA feels a profound sense of sorrow at the sad demise of Dr. I.A. Mukhtar. He was the  first Dean and Director of IBA. It was as a result of his vision and policies that IBA grew to be an excellent business school in a very short time.

Dr. I.A. Mukhtar took his B.A (Hons) Degree in Economics from The Saint Stephen’s College in Delhi and an MA Degree from the Muslim University in Aligarh, where he received the gold medal for his performance.

In appreciation of the extraordinary contribution made by Dr. I.A. Mukhtar to the development and growth of the IBA, The Board of Governors of the IBA made him Professor Emeritus and also conferred upon him the Honorary Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa). The President of Pakistan also conferred upon him, the Civil Award of Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

The late Dr. Mukhtar is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
